DAKOTA CLASSIC MODIFIED TOUR SET TO BEGIN IN RUGBY & MINOT
MANDAN, ND, JULY 5--The 20th Annual Big Dog Chassis Dakota Classic Modified Tour starts Sunday, July 12 in Minot on it’s six day run in North Dakota and Estevan, Saskatchewan. Drivers have pre-registered from nine states and Saskatchewan, Canada. The series will be sanctioned once again with the International Motor Contest Association (IMCA), the largest modified sanctioning organization in the United States and Canada. This series is the richest ever season touring event for modifieds and rewards points to drivers from any of IMCA’s five regions across the US. The winner at each track picks up $1200 for the 30 lap feature event.. NASCAR driver Kenny Wallace has entered the July 14 race at Estevan Motor Speedway. In addition, IMCA Stock Cars will be running their series starting in Rugby, ND on Saturday, July 10. Stock cars will run in addition to the Modifieds at Minot, two nights in Estevan, and Williston. All features will pay $500 to win the feature. The Modified portion of the Tour starts in Minot, ND on Sunday, July 12, at the 3/8 mile Nodak Speedway on the ND State Fairgrounds. On Monday and Tuesday, July 13-14, the Tour heads north of the border to Estevan, SK and the 3/8 mile Estevan Motor Speedway. Wednesday, July 15, its back to North Dakota at Williston and the Williston Basin Speedway’s 1/3 mile track at the Upper Missouri Fairgrounds. On Thursday, July 16, the ¼ mile Southwest Speedway in Dickinson hosts the series at their track 10 miles south of town. The Tour wraps up at the 3/8 mile Dacotah Speedway in Mandan, ND on Friday, July 17, for Championship Night. Big Dog Chassis of North Plate, Nebraska has provided $2,000 in point fund money for the top ten in Modified series points. Dakota Trackside of Minot, ND has provided $1,000 for the top 10 drivers in the IMCA Stock Car division. Drivers will also be racing for a record $17,000 in contingency prizes through Tour and IMCA sponsors. A new Bert racing transmission will be awarded to one Modified driver who races at all six events. An MP racing transmission will also be awarded to one lucky driver who races at all five IMCA Stock Car series events. John Gartner of Mandan, ND is the Tour Director again this year.
